Recently members of the RU Landscape Blog had the good fortune to attend the ASLA Convention in Phoenix Arizona. On the last day of the trip I decided to hitch a ride with one of our grad students and high tail it out into the desert to visit Arcosanti. Arcosanti, the brainchild of architectural theorist Paolo Soleri, was instrumental in my interest in landscape architecture. When I was a freshman I discoverd his work and his advanced ideas, combing futurism, city planning, and a love of landscape, inspired me to work towards getting my degree. Seeing his work first hand was an opportunity I just couldn't pass up. Here are the photos I took while on the visitors tour of Paolo Soleri's Arcosanti.
